If someone murdered someone? The arbites would get involved. Figure it out. The murderer, if found, would be punished.

No, there's official sentences.

That's how it is where I'm from, too. People may not always like the sentences but they do accept them. [Because they have to. So their lives go on, at least most of the time.]

I think for Pagan the revenge was because he knew nothing official would have been done. It's why I'm not surprised or...frankly even angry at what you two did.

What sentence would you have wanted for Quill, if the wardens had been involved?

[He has to think that over. The Imperium has stricter sentences than most places. He wouldn't want her turned into an Acho-Flagellant, for one. No one deserved becoming some kind of drugged-up combat maniac.]

For her to be confined until it was sure she wouldn't do it again, at least.

It's what would have happened where I'm from.

But after speaking to her I'm convinced she will kill again. But the only sure way to get her off the ship is to get her graduated. We could keep her in Zero or confine her to her quarters, but come a breach or a flood it's likely she'd get out. Worse than before.

I saw her network post. Apparently she has to draw blood every month or something... bad happens. I honestly wonder why the Admiral let her come here.

Yeah, I'm not sure I believe that. An adrenalin rush isn't a need. We can throw her in the Enclosure and let her draw blood there if it's real.

I don't think so, but I haven't been monitering it closely. If some idiot wants to let themselves be attacked, that's fine with me.

I mainly want to monitor her willing victims, if there are any. See if she gains some kind of leverage over them, if there are side effects.

I think it's possible. We don't know much about her.

Even if there's no direct psychic link, voluntarily letting someone hurt you can create a mental or emotional bond, and I think she's smart enough to manipulate that.

That's my second biggest concern with her, right after another murder spree. We need to be alert.

[Norton knocks on Rawne's door well after dinner, in the late evening, with one of the bottles of fine champagne he's gotten from his temporary wardens. Each month he asks for another bottle and other assorted luxury goods, partly as a test and partly because it's nice having them, so his champagne collection has become extensive.]

[Rawne opens his door after a moment of wondering if he should put clothes back on. He doesn't so all he's wearing are a pair of black boxer briefs.]
