I remember a time we wanted to kill him. ["We" because Norton did threaten him with a knife once when a flood brought Gaunt aboard.] Remarkable how much things change.

When I went home, right after I graduated, that really made things change. [He does remember Norton threatening Gaunt. He treasures that, even though his feelings about Gaunt have changed.
