::Your bracelet, the blank journals, and some scarves.:: [The cats are different, but they are always cats.]
::Some of the Floods seem intentional like that.:: [The people who think that the Admiral steers the Barge towards particular Floods might be right.]
::The Enclosure is a good place for that.::
[Avalon stands in front of Rawne’s door for several minutes before they decide to knock. Their mind feels neutral, but their body feels more awake than usual, as if someone had shocked them. It seems to pierce through the death toll, temporarily energizing them.
This is a combination of worry and confidence, according to their orb. Anticipation, according to the bracelet that the Flood gave them. Why? They may not get their ability back. The Admiral may be able to remove their beads without returning their shapeshifting, though they doubt it. Either way, their body will revert to how it was when they arrived every time they die.
They knock, staring at their wrist, imagining it bare. Removing their beads will not erase their past, but it will be physical confirmation that they have left that identity behind.]
[Avalon is moving more slowly than usual, enough for someone who knows them to notice. Their body still hurts.] I got caught in the most recent string of deaths, but yes.
[They hold up their beads.] Does my file say anything about this?
::Do you create different settings there, or just one?::
[They sit down.] I slept through the worst of it, at least.
I was talking to Malcolm, and I realized that I might not want it to be part of me anymore. You said you trust me. Would you trust me with my ability to shapeshift? [Their tone is curious, not judging. They only used their shapeshifting as a weapon before it was locked away. It would make sense if they still needed to wait.]
I might want to use it to try out different bodies, but I am not planning to use it for murder.
No. [They can process what this means to them tomorrow.] Do you need anything? Are you planning on requesting restrictions that I should be aware of?
[They nod.] Good to know.
He cares enough to save people who would otherwise be dead, at least. Like me, I think he is detached from what it is like to be human, and that makes empathy difficult.
