What the fuck, Rawne?
I believe your inmate has been brought to the infirmary, no longer among the living. If you would like to come down to attend to them, that would be rather helpful.
My apologies that I can't speak further, but I have them and others to attend to.
Do you think the Admiral could make me capable of feeling emotions like a human, temporarily?
[After a day of creating objects, mostly empty containers and teacup kittens, Avalon calls Rawne. If the Flood causes spoken words to become objects, but not text, their telepathy could allow them to avoid it. It would at least stem the flow of animals.] I have a theory. Would it be possible to get my telepathy back, just for the duration of the Flood?
[Avalon stands in front of Rawne’s door for several minutes before they decide to knock. Their mind feels neutral, but their body feels more awake than usual, as if someone had shocked them. It seems to pierce through the death toll, temporarily energizing them.
This is a combination of worry and confidence, according to their orb. Anticipation, according to the bracelet that the Flood gave them. Why? They may not get their ability back. The Admiral may be able to remove their beads without returning their shapeshifting, though they doubt it. Either way, their body will revert to how it was when they arrived every time they die.
They knock, staring at their wrist, imagining it bare. Removing their beads will not erase their past, but it will be physical confirmation that they have left that identity behind.]
My apologies about the... albeit unorthodox way I deescalated the situation with you and Jacob. Everything all right?
I nudged you a little as we walked off so you'd hopefully wake up sooner.
Do you know Root well? [All they know about her is that she was willing to stalk them as a sort of petty revenge.]
The Barge is different, both from the Rift and from Earth. Even with Avalon’s telepathy restored, all of the cabins and some of the people register as blank spaces unless they intentionally reach out. When they do, some people are still harder to contact than others, their thoughts and emotions rushing through Avalon’s mind in a blur. They decide not to try any sort of manipulation on random people, even after they develop a mental list of those whose minds are more difficult to reach.
Which means that, by the time they knock on Rawne’s door, they have no indicator of whether or not they will be able to accomplish anything. They can tell that they want to, more than they did before, but they would prefer to try this on someone they know.
You got a sec?
Justine needs a resurrection.
[They sound like they just woke up.] What happened on the Narrenschiff? Are you okay?
[The recording is silent for a moment before they ask,] How are you doing on staying warm? [He would be comfortable hugging them, they think.]
I have a professional question to ask when you are at liberty to discuss.
After Sheehan’s post, Avalon pulls a page out of one of their sketchbooks and draws tiny metallic whorls in the center of it, forming an orb. When they knock on Rawne’s door, they have it folded in their pocket, along with a few pens.
